Eminent Researcher Siddique wins again

Eminent scholar Siddique Mahmudur Rahman gets Eighth and Ninth international award

Siddique Mahmudur Rahman, eminent scholar, translator and author, and editing and publication specialist of Bangladesh was awarded Vermeil Medal from century-old American Philatelic Association’s prestigious philatelic exhibition STAMPSHOW 2013 held during 4-8 August 2013 for his edited book ONE TAKA INLAND ENVELOPE: A Comprehensive Study (Authored by late Ishtiaque Ahmed Khan). He was also awarded Silver Medal from the same show for his book ‘RABINDRA PHILATELY.

Siddique was also awarded Silver Medal for his magnum opus Cowri To Taka : Evolition of Coins and Currencies of Bangladesh from Indonesia 2012 International Philatelic Exhibition held during 18-24 June 2012 at Jakarta.

He previously won Bronze Medal from PhilaKorea 09, 24th Asian International Stamp Exhibition, held in Seoul, South Korea, 2009 for his ‘Postage Stamps of Bangladesh 1971-2008’, Silver-Bronze Medal from 22nd Asian International Stamp Exhibition, ‘Jakarta 2008’, for ‘Artist K G Mustafa and his Outstanding Designs’, Silver Bronze by Pacific Explorer, Australia in 2005 for his unique philatelic software in CD Postage Stamps of Bangladesh, Bronze Medal from American Philatelic Society, USA both in 1990 and Silver Bronze Medal by Australian Philatelic Federation in 1993 for his pioneering publication ‘Bangladesh Stamps and Postal History’ and Silver-Bronze Medal from Cardinal Spellman Philatelic Museum Inc., USA.

Pioneer in research on postal history, postage stamps, paper currencies and metallic coins of Bangladesh Siddique Mahmudur Rahman, is a reputed researcher, author, translator, editing and publication specialist. His research publications include A History of Bangladesh Philately 1971-1985, 1986; Bangladesh Stamp and Postal History, 1988; Bangladesher Dakbyabostha and Bangladesher Daktikit, 1995; Postage Stamps of Bangladesh – A database, interactive multimedia philatelic software in CD, 2003; Eminent Personalities of Bangladesh, a multimedia database software in CD, 2005; K G Mustafa and his Exceptional Designs, 2007; Bangladesher Daktikit and Postage Stamps of Bangladesh 1971-2008, 2008, Cowri to Taka -Evolution of Coins and Currencies of Bangladesh, 2011, Bangladesher Muktijuddhye Dak Byabostha O Daktikit, 2012. His articles Postal Stamps, Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim and BIRDEM were published in Banglapaedia.

Poems of Bangladesh (Rokon Zahur edited), (translated 96 poems) 2004; Shahabuddin Nagari’s Poems, (translated 96 poems) 2005 and Selected Poems (jointly with Rokon Zahur and translated 10 poems of 12 poets of Bangladesh), 2005, Selected Poems of Bimal Guha, 2009, Fifty Poems of Rabindra Gope, 2010, Moghol Singha Babar, 2011.
